August is Family Fun Month!

Hi, everyone!
We all know about holidays through the year such as Valentine's Day, Easter, July 4th and Christmas, but what about those oft-forgotten, completely crazy head-scratcher holidays that are rarely heard of, and often laughable?! Well.........at Catch the Bug we will be highlighting some of the whacky holidays each week with some great projects and cards to depict them! We're calling it
Humor Me Wednesday!
We hope you will join us in the fun each week: take a peek at some of the different days by visiting the talented DT members for Bugaboo Stamps for some inspiration. Most holidays are just belly-busters, while others are just plain fun! :0) We are choosing holidays from each week for the Humor Me Wednesday creations, so we aren't all covering the same one. We're hoping this offers you that much more inspiration and fun! :0)

For my card today, I chose to use the August holiday: Family Fun Month. I like that Family Fun is a month-long holiday! I think it's a great month for it, too! I can remember going to family picnics in August when I was a kid. There was a little amusement park along the river where we would go for bbq, and they had a lot of fun family games planned for the day (through dads work). They had a few small carnival type rides, which were always my favorite (who doesn't love the Tilt-O-Whirl? I know I did!). Anyhow, this fun image reminded me of those days, so I thought it was perfect for this month-long holiday celebration. This card features  the AKV Carnival - Jumping Trio image.

I colored up my image is PSE, as always. I used the EK Success Mini Pennants punch for my banner pieces, and a Marvy punch for my tiny flowers. Then I added some rhinestones. The banner is on pop-dots for dimension.

One more thing before I wrap this up....
I am now assisting the DT Coordinator with some of the more routine things at Catch the Bug Blog to fill in some time for our wonderful Ms. Min, who is expecting Baby #1, and is happily preparing for the arrival! I'm helping out with some posting duties, and I'm also helping out by choosing a Bugaboo Stamps Fan of the Month! So......if you're a fan of Bugaboo Stamps (and who isn't, right?!), make sure you're posting your Bugaboo cards on your blog because I'm poking around Blog-land looking for YOU! :)

Happy Crafting!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I truly appreciate it, and would love it if you would leave me a comment so I know you came to visit!
Please feel free to browse my blog, I'd love to be your inspiration for your next project! :0) If you're not already a follower, and like what I create, please consider following me! :0) ====>>

Photo Inspiration at Catch the Bug

It's Saturday, which means a new challenge over at Catch the Bug today! It's nice to have some visual inspiration! You can choose to use the colors, the theme of the photo, or go off on a tangent because of some emotion a photo touches within your soul....however this picture inspires you, we want to see it in your project!

This week's theme is a
Photo Inspiration
(See picture toward the bottom of my post)

My card features the Bugaboo Stamps Flower Tags - Tag 1. I thought this would make a nice frame for a pretty sentiment. :) The photo really reminded me that even though Mother's Day has officially passed this year, that it is important to remind mom how big a part she is in the family! I don't do that for my mom enough, so this is a good card for my stash! :)

This week I used my Nesties, an old Sizzlit, an EK Success flower punch, an old button I had in my stash, and a charm and brad. The papers are some new ones I picked up at Michaels. I don't normally buy the 6" paper pads, but have recently found several I liked, and had stocked up on them. I've decided I do like how quick a card can be made from them, and it's so nice to have coordinating papers handy. I'm a huge fan of yellows, blues and whites, so I couldn't resist the papers when I saw them. They contrast so beautifully, andd it's so fun to find gorgeous patterns in the different shades of each.
My flowers and leaves were cut with my new Silhouette Portrait machine so I could pop-dot them from some depth. If you click the image to enlarge it, I think you can tell a little better.

Here is the photo to use for your inspiration, too! We'd love for you to play along with us!

Now that you've seen how this pic inspired me, let's see what it did to inspire you! Be sure to head over to Catch the Bug to add your creation to the Mr. Linky to play along with our challenge. :0)

Another digi layout I made!

This is another digital layout I made with the Happy Go Lucky file I downloaded from http://www.shabbyprincess.com/!
Still playing with my Adobe PE, and learning something new every time! I am loving this!!! I can not wait to move entirely into my new scrap room, hook up my monster printer (it's an Hp B8850 - the thing is awesome, but a beast!).
Thanks for taking a peek at my new page!

My very first 100% digital scrapbook layout!

I'm so excited! I have had the Adobe PE software on my computer for a year now, and just never taken any time to REALLY sit down and play around with all the cool things you can do on it. So, with some inspiration from Deanna's Hello Kitty post on the svgcuts.com forum, I downloaded a freebie Happy Go Lucky digi kit from Scrappy Princess to play around with on my program, and this is my result! I was so happy to finally understand layering and the way effects could be used with each! It was like a giant lightbulb lit up in my head! Awesome! Oh the possibilities that lie ahead of me now!! lol! I can't wait to spend more time playing around with colors and layouts......now I have to figure out how to throw a template into the mix! Woohoo! :)

A simple layout to honor my simple man.... LOL!

These are some pictures I took while "learning" to use my new camera. My husband was tired of me pointing the camera at his face, so he started making funny faces at me. I thought I was going to just put these pics in the trash file, but once I purchased the SVGCuts.com collection called "A Royal Festival" I knew that they were going to print! This Jester was just calling out to be pieced together for a page with funny faces!
RJ Ogren, a former Disney artist, has made some incredible svg cut files for SVGCuts.com, this collection being one of them. If you have Sure Cuts A Lot, you should definitely be heading over to http://www.svgcuts.com/ to buy some of these awesome collections for cuts! So much of a deal compared to buying cartridges! And if you haven't already, click on the icon in my sidebar to purchase your copy of Sure Cuts A Lot!
