Humor Me Wednesday at catch the Bug

Hi, everyone!

We all know about holidays through the year such as Valentine's Day, Easter, July 4th and Christmas, but what about those oft-forgotten, completely crazy head-scratcher holidays that are rarely heard of, and often laughable?! Well.........at Catch the Bug we will be highlighting some of the whacky holidays each week with some great projects and cards to depict them! We're calling it

Humor Me Wednesday!

We hope you will join us in the fun each week: take a peek at some of the different days by visiting the talented DT members for Bugaboo Stamps for some inspiration. Most holidays are just belly-busters, while others are just plain fun! :0) We are choosing holidays from each week for the Humor Me Wednesday creations, so we aren't all covering the same one. We're hoping this offers you that much more inspiration and fun! :0)

For my card today, I chose to use the July 7 holiday: Chocolate Day. Some other more humorous holidays this week are happening on July 10 is Teddy Bear Picnic Day; July 11 is Cheer Up the Lonely Day, and  , are you ready for this?! The entire week, July 7-13, is Nude Recreation Week! lol! (I really did try to come up with a card idea for that, but I fell short on ideas. lol! THAT would have been a really big HAHA for Wednesday!).

Today I used the Kitchen Ginger - Chocolate Chip  image from Bugaboo Stamps. I kept him clean and simple. I used some of my stashed-away DCWV papers. I have a TON of these. I think I don't pull them out much because they are a card stock, and layering them makes for quite a thick, heavy card........literally. Today, I made sure to cut each of my pieces to avoid layering them. I am much happier with it this way, and will try to remember to do this more in the future with these papers. :)

There is a lot of glitter on the papers, so I didn't do any additional Stickles or glaze this time (seems I'm on a roll with that glaze, lately! lol!). The sentiment is one that I altered from a coffee sentiment that I've seen on store plaques and wall art (usually it reads, "With enough coffee I can rule the world", or with enough "caffeine"....something along those lines).

A New Release from Bugaboo!

It's Tuesday.......time for a Bugaboo Stamps New Release! This week, Jodie is releasing a set of images that I LOVE!! Okay.....who am I kidding, right?! I love them ALL! lol! These, though, are so crazy cute! I have always adored Jodie's Chef Pierre images, but the new Roly Poly Chef......he just may bump skinny Chef Pierre to the back burner! lol! Which do you prefer??

I kept this card really simple - I wasn't feeling very inspired this past week. Had been running all kinds of errands and trying to clean my craft stuff. When I get into organizing/cleaning mode, crafty mode seems to go into hiding. 

I picked out a paper from the DCWV Sweet Stack, that I've had "forever", to use as a card base. I colored my chef in PSE, printed and used my Nesties to cut the ovals. I added an old standby gingham ribbon and bow, and a sentiment, and a tiny bit of gold Stickles to finish him off. Not too bad for a quick card, I say! :0)

Mash-em-up-challenge Card for Bugaboo

What?! What do I mean by "Mash-em-up-Challenge Card"?! Well....that's my way of killing two birds with one stone......get it? "Two Birds"......like on my card?! lol! I am killing it over here! lol! ;0)
Anyhow, Bugaboo Stamps has a challenge blog, Catch the Bug Challenge Blog, and they also have a group on Paper Craft Planet (PCP), and Crafters Digital Art Center (CDAC) where they host challenges and give away awesome freebies! So, I combined the challenges on one card (hence, "mash-em-up-challenge" title of this post), to enter into all three challenges (I'm feeling very efficient today! lol!)
Here's my card

This is the card, closed. It is a slider/pocket card. The image is paper-pieced with some patterned papers that I printed (found some goodies online......fabric shop "samples" work great for printing digital subtle patterns!).  The challenge at Catch the Bug this week is to  "use warm colors and paper piecing".

The challenge at PCP and CDAC, which is the Wacky Wednesday Challenge #17, is to use a technique, Paper Piercing and Faux Stitching. Here's a photo of the tag pulled out of the pocket.

I used a Kitchen Chicken image for my front paper-pieced image, and the chef image is from the Chef Pierre collection of images that Jodie created a while back. I just love the Chef Pierre images, and I have them all, but this is probably the one I use most. :0) I recently obtained the Kitchen Chickens, and I must say, I am loving this! I now have the rest of the images from this collection on my wish list (which is never-ending, I might add!! LOL!)  :0)

My papers are from a K&Company stack called Halloween and Fall. I love this stack of papers!

I paper pierced around some edges, adding some white gel pen for my faux stitches.

The scalloped ribbon tag is an svg that I created, and it will be posted tomorrow as a freebie, so come back to pick it up then! :0)
