This post is a little different from most of mine! You see.......my best friend from childhood, Ted - who I call my "brother" to anyone that asks what our "story" is, is in the Army Reserves. He has a wonderful family that he is leaving behind for a year during a deployment to Afghanistan. He has a little girl going into Kindergarten this fall, and a baby due right around the same time.
When I first found out he was going to be leaving for a year, I contacted a friend of mine at my son's school to do a little "therapy"........just some venting and discussion about my fears for my bestie. She was a great listener. and it was comforting to have someone to talk to. A couple days later she approached me about the school adopting Ted's unit while they are overseas. Every year the school does a Soldier's Angels Adoption, and this year they are going to be sending items to the soldiers in my friends unit. I was so thrilled that she would think of him and his fellow soldiers for this! I am planning a trip to Sam's this week to pick up some items, plus I am going to send some of my cards to him for the guys and girls of his unit to send back to their families. I am going to be posting several kid-themed cards over the next few weeks, so be on the look out! :0) The school is sending out their first shipment of items in April, and then they will send out more in the fall, once school is back in session, again.
If you'd like to help support Ted's unit, below is the information about what the school is in need of for donations and the contact information. If you are not able to donate, for any reason, please say a prayer for Ted, his entire unit and their families. Thank you!
Normally I end my posts with a "Happy Crafting" line, but today I am going to borrow the words of Charles Dickens, as spoken through Tiny Tim....
"May God Bless Us....Every One!"

Cheryl, this is such a sweet thing your son's school does. I will definitely keep your friend and his unit in my thoughts. :)
