Patriotic Card & Freebie SVG

Hi, everyone!
It's that time of year........when the air is filled with the smell of bbq's, the sun shines hot and the kids can be heard giggling along the street parades! I LOVE the July 4th holiday! It has always been a favorite with my family, and we have many fond memories of friends and family events that have happened on past Fourth of July Holidays.
For those of you that don't know, my son started the Young Marines when he was 12. The town we recently moved from has annual Memorial and Fourth of July parades that attract thousands of people from three counties. Each year, my son's Young Marine Unit would participate in these parades, marching with fellow patriot groups and local bands. It always was hotter than HOT, but we went and watched him, regardless. It was usually followed up with a luncheon at the local VFW Hall, and hosted by the Ladies Auxiliary. Here's a photo I had taken "way back when" at one of the parades: my son is now 18, so he's not in Young Marines any longer (he was a 4-yer JROTC Cadet, but that's a totally different story.....)

So..........there you have it....that's my tradition, what's yours?? Feel free to share in a comment! :0) We all love to know each other a little better! :0) Don't be shy! lol!
Anyhow, I think it's important that we celebrate the holiday, remembering that the country we live in, however flawed it may be, allows us the freedom to celebrate in the way we choose. Here's my card for this year's holiday, and the black silhouette of the Patriotic Kids Marching on Parade is your free svg today! :0) It is one cut, and measures approx. 4-5/8" wide x 3-3/4" tall. I used some Fireworks designer paper that I picked up from JoAnn's (back in 2004....can you believe it?!), along with some other open stock papers I've had "forever". The "button" in the background is an svg from Uncle Sam's Extravaganza Part I collection over at SVGCuts.com.

  3. I love your freebie, Cheryl. Your tradition makes me think of ours here too. We drive back to our hometown (about 20 min away) for the Annual Memorial Day parade, it's always the same people, the same fire trucks, the same bands, etc. But it's also always the same tradition and we love it!
