Hi, everyone!
I have been working on my niece's scrapbook, as many of you know, and the end of the page creations is finally here! Woohoo! I still have many posts of layouts from the book, but I have scheduled them over the next couple months so i don't overload you all with scrapbook stuff! Keep your eyes open for them in the future! :0)
In the meantime, I thought I'd share the card I made for her. I felt like tying something new, and when I stumbled on a tutorial by Beccy's Place for a Box Book Card, I gave it a whirl. This is my finished creation, being wrapped and packed for it's trip north to the birthday party next week. :0) The image I used for this card is also by Beccy's Place, it's called Quilted One and Bear and it is available in her store. I did alter the size of my card from Beccy's tutorial. My finished card measures 5" square. It's approximately 1/2" thick, so it does not fit into a standard mailing envelope. If I weren't sending the scrapbook to my niece, I probably would not have made this card! lol! I can at least put them in a box together. :0)
Please pardon the heavy shadows in my photos - this was a very hard card to photograph because of it's thickness. I hope you can see the details well enough.

This is a photo of the box card as it is put together with the band. The band, which is the edge-punched green paper with the sentiment, holds the cover of the book box closed.
I used the following items to create the band:
K & Company Small Wonders Girl Papers
EK Success Edge Punch
Scrap-Mart Exclusive Labels Spellbinder Die
Stampin' Up Large Oval Punch
Cheery Lynn Die - Mini Leafy Flourish
Prima Flowers
Rhinestone Brads
Stampin' Up Inks & Sponge Dauber
This photo shows the closed book box with the band removed. The materials used to create the "cover" of the book card are:
Stampin' Up Very Vanilla Card Stock
Spellbinders Classic Squares Die
Sizzix Wood Grain Embossing Folder
Clear Acetate
Stampin' Up Ink & Sponge Dauber
This photo shows the inside of the card with the cover opened. The inside of the cover is lined with an additional piece of card stock.
The inside of the card holds the four-layered bear image. I printed the colored image out four times and cut different pieces of it to layer it with pop-dots. Below the materials list are additional photos of the inside of the card to give better perspective of the dimension.
Material used for the face of the insode of the card, and the inside:
EK Success Zig Zag & Candles Border Punches
Beccy's Place Digital Stamp - Quilted One and Bear
Pop-Dots
Gel Pen
Stickles
Stampin' Up Ink & Sponge Daubers
Scor-Pal
Double-Sided Tape
Here is a photo of the edge of the book card.
This last photo shows a bit of a side view, so you can see my million layers. :0)
Phew! That was a long, detailed project! Like I said, I'm not sure I'll tackle another Book Box Card, but it was fun trying something new!
Thanks so much for stopping by today!
I love to read your comments regarding what you think of my efforts, so feel free to leave one! :0)
