3D Bird House for ABC Day at Catch the Bug

It's an ABC (Anything But a Card) Day over at Catch the Bug, and it's my turn to create something! :0) I always have a difficult time coming up with projects for ABC Day. I don't have any little ones at my house (my son is 20, and just does not appreciate good paper crafty stuff, ya' know?!). I never know what on earth to do with my goodies once I'm done with them. Hubby keeps every card I give him, and if I start giving him 3D paper objects.....well......I just have no idea where the man will pile them up! lol! Anyhow, it's always a tough day for me to create for my DT assignments, but I am giving it a go! I've done a few ABC projects this year, so far, and this was definitely the most fun to make! I felt like I was in preschool, again, glueing and cutting at the crafty table! lol!

Today I'd like to share a 3D Bird House that I made using a Silhouette cut file. The cute little house can be used as a box, provided you don't glue down the roof piece to both sides of the roof top like I did....oops! It worked out okay, though......I didn't plan on putting anything in this, anyhow; it was created simply to be a cute little spring/summer scene. :)

I used two different Bugaboo Stamps sets for all my embellishes: Mini Set - Spring and Create a Scene - Butterfly Spring. The Print and Cut feature of my Silhouette machine was such a blessing for this project! :) Without it, I don't think I would have attempted this.
I used pop dots for some pieces, and made little tabs that fold beneath the rooftop for the cloud pieces. My roof top is embossed using a Sizzix folder, and I inked the folder with Distress Ink (Walnut Stain) before running it through the Big Shot. This gives it the two-tone look.

Here's a look at the sides of the box: I'm hoping you can see the dimension better in this photo.

Here's a closer look at the front. I placed my dp a bit off center on accident, but it still looks passable, I think. :)

It's also where you can check out all the other fantastic DT projects, including the OBG (Oldie But Goodie) stuff, the ABC (Anything But a Card) items, and the Tuesday New Releases......plus so much more!

One more thing before I wrap this up....be on the lookout for the upcoming Bugaboo Christmas in July Week Long Celebration! This is always a favorite, with lots of FREE images given away for participating in our challenges that week! I'll have more details on that as the date draws nearer.

Also, I am now assisting the DT Coordinator with some of the more routine things at Catch the Bug Blog to fill in some time for our wonderful Ms. Min, who is expecting Baby #1, and is happily preparing for the arrival! I'm helping out with some posting duties, and I'm also helping out by choosing a Bugaboo Stamps Fan of the Month! Guest Designer at From the Heart Stamps - A Sketch Challenge!

Hello, everyone!
I hope you are having a wonderful day! I am very excited to share this weeks card post as Guest Designer for From the Heart Stamps! Woohoo!
I am having a great time playing along with their talented design team each week!
Not only does From the Heart Stamps have some incredibly adorable images, but each week at From the Heart Stamps Blog a sketch challenge is held. It is called a Sketch Challenge with a tWiSt: a sketch is provided, but so is an additional requirement. Don't worry.....no need to feel overwhelmed with rules and restrictions! You can choose to use the sketch, OR you can create using the tWiSt....or you can do BOTH! :)
Here is this weeks sketch:

Sketch with a tWiSt #072
tWiSt: Warm Colors: Warm Reds, Oranges, Yellows

Here's a really cool thing about this sketch challenges: EVERYONE IS A WINNER! You can earn a $1 discount code toward any digi image in their store. No, not by being a random winner, but just by entering! And even better, yet.......you can use multiple codes toward purchases in their store! So, if you play three weeks in a row, you can buy a new digi for only $ .50! Play four times in a row, and "buy" a new digi with all four of your codes without spending a dime out of your own pocket!
See......I told you that everyone is a winner there! :)

Here's another cool thing about From the Heart Stamps.......they also run a month-long challenge in addition to their weekly sketch challenges. "Why is that cool?" you ask??? Because if you use the monthly image, you will be emailed next months image
FOR FREE!

Okay....now that I've explained my excitement about this great digi-stamp company, let's move on to my card for this week.  Aren't all the circle layers on this sketch the coolest??This week I am using the sketch AND the tWiSt. :)

I chose to play with the super chic French Mustache Birdbrain image on my card. I colored my image digitally, with PSE. I cut it out, and embossed it, using a Spellbinders Classic Circles die. I had these great papers from old Sizzix Sizzlets pads in my stash, and I grabbed several to layer my circles.
Instead of a banner or border, I chose some black rhinestones and a die-cut sentiment, which I cut with my Silhouette Portrait machine.
I am digging this little chick.....he's way too cute, I think!

I hope you enjoy your day! I appreciate you stopping by, and would love it if you'd leave a comment!
I hope you'll join us for the sketch challenge!
Thanks for stopping!

Guest Designer at From the Heart Stamps - A Sketch Challenge!

Hello, everyone!
I hope you are having a wonderful day! I am very excited to share my second post as Guest Designer for From the Heart Stamps! Woohoo!

I chose to play with the sweet little Balancing Hearts image on my card. I colored my image digitally, with PSE. I cut it out, and embossed it, using a Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Rectangle die. I had these great papers in my stash, and I love the whimsical design of them. I don't normally use light colored papers without a pop of bold color, but for this card, that's exactly what I did......excluding my image, that is. :)
My Lattice Heart is a Martha Stewart Punch, as is the little Vine Heart. The tiny Heart Border is, too. The "Love" word is a plastic flat-back that I had from a packet that I purchased long ago. I had grabbed it from a clearance rack at a JoAnn store. I love shopping the entire JoAnn store for things to use on paper! :) I adhered it with some Glossy Accents, and called this "Done!".

I hope you enjoy your day! I appreciate you stopping by, and would love it if you'd leave a comment!
I hope you'll join us for the sketch challenge!

BINGO Saturday at Catch the Bug

It's Saturday, which means a new challenge over at Catch the Bug today! We are hosting our monthly B-I-N-G-O Card Challenge!

Without further ado , here is this weeks Catch the Bug
Bingo Card:
Isn't this BINGO Card the coolest?! So many choices!
You may choose three squares: horizontal, vertical, or diagonal!

I chose to use the far left column of requirements for my card this week
(Ribbon, Button, Stripes). Okay....so I am really stretching the definition of "ribbon" by using twine, but......you'll give me a 'pass' for that, right?! :)
My card features the Bugaboo Stamps Bird Greetings Sweet Bird-day image. I used my Silhouette Print and Cut for him, after coloring him in PSE.
My papers are all from my scrap box. I pieced them together and wrapped the twine around them, then added my button. The panel is attached with pop-dots to the card base. I attached the bird with pop-dots, too, but had to stack the dots, two-high, to make sure it wasn't bent out of shape because the dp panel was up higher, already. I don't normally give my cards this much dimension, simply because they require special envelopes, and also additional postage. I will say that I do think it turned out well, and I will just bit the bullet on the 'specials', this time. ;)

To give the bird a bit more celebratory 'bling', I added some Stickles
and a bit of Glossy Accents.
