Bossy Stella Says Sketch!

It's Sunday, the "every-other" kind at Catch the Bug, and time for another
Stella Says Sketch Challenge
#220

For my card today, I've used the Bugaboo Stamps image called Sick Girl. I think it's never a bad idea to keep a few 'get well' cards handy, especially moving into the cold months of winter! I wasn't sure what I thought of this image when I first saw it, but I really wanted to bring it to life, and practiced a lot of my PSE techniques for shadows when I colored her in.
One thing about coloring digitally that is a challenge for me, always, is that I lose some luminosity when I print. My printer is a photo printer, but it just doesn't handle the subtle shades nearly as well as I'd like. Here's what this image looks like on a screen:

Healing Thoughts with Catch the Bug

It's Saturday, which means a new challenge over at Catch the Bug today!

It's all about the 'sickies', be they flu bugs, colds, or maybe the "down-in-the-dumps".
This week, our theme is
Lift Up/Get Well

My card features an oldie Bugaboo Stamps Clyde image, Clyde Get Well
I've always loved this little dragon! In his little nurse cap, how could he not put a mile on someone's face?!
I printed him using my Silhouette Print and Cut feature. I cut my sentiment and shapes with my cutter, as well. The flower is made using two punches, and the leaves I used are from a die. The papers are by My Minds Eye; I picked them up on sale, recently, at Hobby Lobby. I had recently seen a card done in peach and purple, and I fell in love with the combo, so this is my attempt using it. The ribbon is from stash (sooooo much ribbon stash! Ack!)

Here's a closer look at the image and the flower; I'm really liking the flower. I added a few small dots to the tips of the inner flower layer, and I think it gave it that little "extra" that it needed for the dimension.

One more thing before I wrap this up....be on the lookout for the upcoming Bugaboo Christmas in July Week Long Celebration! This is always a favorite, with lots of FREE images given away for participating in our challenges that week! I'll have more details on that as the date draws nearer.

An Oldie But Goodie for the Stash

Hi, everyone!
Thursday's are Oldie But Goodie Days at Catch the Bug Blog
I love OBG day because I can break out some of my favorite Bugaboo Stamps to play with, and have an excuse to show them on my blog! lol! (As if I need an excuse, right?!)

Today I am using the Deacon Rain from Bugaboo Stamps.  This is the first time I've colored him, and I've had him in my files for a long time. Shame on me! He's so cute, and I thought he was perfect for a 'get well' type of card.

This is a CAS, clean and simple, card. I used a piece of K&Co dp and some scrap card stock to help show him off. My little edge anchor is an 'oldie but goodie', too! It is from CTMH, from back in my consultant days (I think around 2000, if I'm not mistaken). I have a few of them left, and I think they're so cool! I tried to find some similar embellishes online, but to no avail. I'm going to checkout the local craft stores to see if I can find anything like it, in some different colors.

Anyhow, back to the card. Per my norm, the image is colored in PhotoShop Elements, then printed. The curve is a freehand cut. I added some Stickles Star Dust to the rain drops and the puddle. The sentiment is something I typed in PSE, before printing my image. I used a font called Dash Dot, which was part of a downloadable CD I had used back in my CTMH days, too.

An Oldie But Goodie (OBG) - Caught a Bug?!

Today I am using the Jesse Bear Bug Jar image.  I think Jesse Bear is my favorite Bugaboo Stamps Bear. I just love his oversized hat! It reminds me of when my son was a little guy. He loved wearing hats, and he had one that reads "#1 Son" on it. Of course, the joke is that he's the ONLY son, so that hat was saved, and currently resides in my closet "basket of memories". :) They sure grow up fast, don't they?! Sheesh....time flies!

For my card, i used an old "Stella Says" Sketch. (You can find all kinds of wonderful "Stella Says" Sketches here). This card uses all scraps from my stash. I have been leaving my scrap box out, in a very  easy-to-remember space, so that I will try to go to it before digging into my uncut 12" papers. I actually have four scrap boxes! They are photo boxes, and I sort my scraps as I'm crafting: designer paper scraps, Stampin Up scraps, American Crafts scraps and an "everything else" scrap box. So far, leaving them on my table top is helping me to use them up faster!
I pulled out my Stampin Up Photo Corner Punch and Scallop Border Punch. I also used some Ladybug Buttons that I cut the shanks from before adhering with Glossy Accents. I am leaving the front with no sentiment for now. I was thinking this could be a great card for a little boy, or even a "sorry you caught a bug" card for a sickie.

You can check out all the great images that Jodie has to offer, at the Bugaboo Store here.

A Recipe Challenge at Catch the Bug!

It's Saturday, which means a new challenge over at Catch the Bug today! This week's theme is a crafter fave:

This week's theme is a
RECIPE CHALLENGE!

We want to see you whip up a goodie using
One Ribbon, Two Buttons, and Three Colors

My card features one of my favorite Bugaboo Stamps characters, Dottie!
This is an older image called Dottie - Nurse. As I was creating this card, I received a text from hubby. He was at work, and he texted to say he wasn't feeling so great and may come home early. :0(
Poor hubby!! I sent him a message back with the image of my card. :0)

Scrap Ribbon
Spellbinders - Beaded Ovals, Classic Ovals
Stampin' Up Buttons

As you can see, I chose blue, brown and pink for my colors. I tried and tried to make the photo look like the actual colors, but that brown is sort of an "off" shade, and it just wasn't getting any better! I hope you enjoy my colors, anyhow! :0)
