Reel Special!

Hi everyone!
I have a confession to make.........I didn't send my dad a card for Father's Day this year!! <*GASP!*>
I know, I know.......how could I NOT?! I mean, it's not like I don't MAKE cards, right?! (hanging head in shame).
In my weak defense, I did call him on the phone! :) I haven't seen him in a while, but hubby and I are taking a trip home next week (the first in almost two years), so we will be spending some time together then. We're supposed to head to the zoo with many of the other family members, so I told him I'd buy him an ice cream while we're there. lol! I know that sounds funny, but if you knew my dad you would know that he LOVES ice cream! lol! There are always at least three or four different kinds in the freezer at his place! lol! AND he stays skinny as a rail!!! Grrrr........
In the meantime, I thought I'd put together a card to take with me for him. Sort of a "non-Father's Day Father Card", if you will. The inside of this one reads,
"You are REEL special to me!".

Inspired by.....

Hi, everyone!
I have recently been browsing the Cottage Cutz website because I am in love, love, love with their dies!
I just purchased the Mountain Lodge and the Rustic Trees & Sign, and am (im)patiently waiting for them to be delivered so I cam play with them. In the meantime, I saw their Profile of a labrador die, which is just a single layer die, and inthe name of being thrifty (okay.....broke!) lol!, I made an svg similar to it.....but better, I think!
I created multiple layers to make this: a base layer that includes the dog, a grassy layer that includes the cat tail reeds, then a grass-only layer, plus the cat tails. I also added these cool flying geese/duck silhouettes for some extra effect of a hunting dog. What do you think of my card - too "plain"? I wasn't sure if I should add multiple layers of papers beneath for more "design", or not.

I haven't added a sentiment, yet, as I may use it for Father's Day, or possibly a birthday card for my son. I just wasn't certain, so that can wait, and I see no harm in there be no sentiment on the outside, do you?
I did do some detail shading and line work on the dog to give him some facial features, plus the ear. I did quite a bit of sponge inking around my cuts, too. It seemed to add a bit more depth to my otherwise "flat" birds. lol!
I had trouble taking my picture; the colors aren't quote showing up right on the camera. The background paper is a creamy yellowish-tan, and it threw everything off a little bit. It is much richer in person, with a chocolatey brown mat on an olive green card base, plus the reeds and grasses are much richer, in the same papers as the mat and card.

My version of the "shirt" card, and a quick note about freebies

Hi, everyone!
There are a lot of these shirt cards on the web, but being the "hey, I can make that" person that I am, I created my own svg file for one. This is my version
The tie and collar are actually connected to the back of the card base and folded over the front. Here are two more photos to show that better

The finished card fits into an A2 envelope. The FREE SVG FILE contains the card base, the shirt base layer, the tie pieces, the pocket, collar and lapel top and bottom layers.
For my cards (I made two for Fathers Day), I ran the tie through my Cuttlebug using the Argyle embossing folder and then did some light inking over it. On the lapel, I used some beads for the buttons before applying it to the card.
Thanks for stopping by to check this out! Please scroll all the way down this post for my message regarding my free files.

Please leave some love if you enjoy my freebies! I love to hear from you! :) This is how I know you were here, like what you see, and would like to see more!
I am offering the file download for a limited time, only.
The links will be active for one week only, so get them while you can!
If you have any problems with this file, please let me know so I can fix it for you, and for others!

And, PLEASE....

Any files I offer are for PERSONAL, NON-COMMERCIAL USE ONLY. This means that you may not sell them, alter them, or share them. They are not for use on websites (including blogs), or for marketing in any way.
Should you wish to share my files with others, please post a link to my site and give due credit.

The files I offer are typically compressed, and will need to be unzipped prior to use.
Cut files are in SVG format and are compatible with Sure Cuts A Lot, and any other software cutting program that supports svg files.
You can contact me at cherylfirst1@yahoo.com if you have any questions about any of my files, or if you just want to drop me a note!
Happy Crafting!  :)

A Quick Note .......
I have recently had several "Anonymous" requests for my svg files that are expired links. I have explained in the past that I do not leave all links active because of limited bandwidth space for my free file sharing accounts. If you wish to receive a file, PLEASE include an email address and your name so I can send it to you. Please do not ask me to re-activate the link because I am not going to do that (again because of bandwidth limitations). I do not make any money on my files, I am not a store: this is simply a hobby for me, and I try to share what I make so others can use my files, too. It would be different if I was making money from this and had funds to buy more bandwidth for sharing files, but......that's just not the case.  Thank you very much for understanding!

Masculine Card, Sketch Challenge

Hi, everyone!
Yesterday was a really rough day for me (I'll spare you the details). I did manage to sit down long enough to make a card, though.
This card uses an image from Beccy's Place. She has a few really great masculine images on her blog, and I had decided to work on a sketch challenge over at Cards For Men. This is their Challenge No. 1.
Here is the sketch layout
The Stamping Boutique is hosting their challenge this week, and the winner will receive five digi's from their store, so hop on over to join in the fun!
For my card, I used PSE to turn the digi image into a Brush. I chose the blue color for the brush outlines and then colored the rest of the image in with PSE. I used some paper glaze on the clock hands. The paper is all from from scrap pile (I have quite a mountain these days!). I used an EK Success Border Punch/Embosser on the sentiment and rectangle layers, and my nesties cut out my oval.
Thanks for taking a peek! I'm hoping today is more productive and ends with some free svg's for you! :0)
