Freebie Friday - Two Styles, One Card

It's Friday.......time for a Bugaboo Stamps Freebie!
It can be picked up in the store for FREE, but only for a limited time! Be sure to check out the other fun images that Jodie has to offer at Bugaboo Stamps! There's a little something for everyone, and they're all sure to put a smile on someone's face! :)

This image is called Bee Bear Heart String.
I colored him in PSE, then used my Silhouette to Print and Cut. I added some Stickles to his wings. My background paper is stamped using one of my Cuttlebug folders, some Stampin' Up ink, and a mist of water to create the watercolor effect.

My flower stamp is from Stampin' Up Upsy Daisy set, as is the sentiment.
It has been a very, very long time since I have used any of my stamps, but I have been following Karen, at Snippets, for a little while now, and her techniques are so inspiring, I had to try! I know the cutesy image isn't the perfect pairing for the background I created, but it will have to do! :)

Pick this up as a freebie for a limited time only, over at the Bugaboo Stamps Store, and make sure you also jump over to the Catch the Bug Challenge Blog: it's where you can find out all the lastest "dish" on what challenges are happening and what other challenge sites that Bugaboo is sponsoring (more chances to win some free Bugaboo!). It's also where you can check out all the other fantastic DT projects, including the OBG (Oldie But Goodie) stuff, the ABC (Anything But a Card) items, and the Tuesday New Releases......plus so much more!
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today! I hope you'll kindly leave a comment, or become a follower. If I know you were here, I can come to visit you, as well.

An Oldie But Goodie and Another Studio Cutting File

Hi, everyone!
Thursday's are Oldie But Goodie Days at Catch the Bug Blog
I love OBG day because I can break out some of my favorite Bugaboo Stamps to play with, and have an excuse to show them on my blog! lol! (As if I need an excuse, right?!)

Today I am using the Mini Set Spring Stuff from Bugaboo Stamps.  I know you have seen me use images from this set before: it is definitely one of my favorite go-to sets for all things springy! These little bees and honeycomb are so cute, I think!

I am on a major spending freeze for craft stuff, and actually doing okay with that. It has forced me to learn to use my cutting machine more, as when I see new dies that are released, you know, the "must-haves-seldom-used".....well, I do my darndest to figure out a way to make them cut files. I love, love. love the Elizabeth Crafts dies that are pop-ups, and the Sizzix Flip-Its dies are awesome! I just can't fork over $20-$30 for a die (even when I'm NOT on a spending freeze!)

Anyhow, this is my card, which I created the card base cut file in my Silhouette Studio Software. (Visit my Cutting Files for Sale Tab to find out how you can purchase this). It is inspired by a Sizzix die. I actually thought I had this cut figured out, made a card base, and realized it had more cutting areas on it than needed, so I had to revamp it to get it right. It was a learning experience. It has been a while (three years) since leaving my job, so being able to use my mechanical skills was fun! :)

This is a tough card base shape to photograph, so here are a few pics to help you visualize what's going on with my images on this Z-Fold.

It didn't help that I made the mistake of using two thick card stocks, layered, before adding my image layer. It made it difficult to lay the card completely flat (though I did manage, eventually).

I used my Silhouette machine to do some Print and Cut for the image layers and shapes. I didn't add any dp, or any bling. Amazing! Almost never happens for me! lol! The inside circles, which I didn't manage a great photo of - sorry, say "Just", "Buzzin'" & "By".

Please feel free to browse my blog, I'd love to be your inspiration for your next project! :0) If you're not already a follower, and like what I create, please consider following me! :0) ====>>

Pick up this cute Bugaboo image, and others, over at the Bugaboo Stamps Store, and make sure you also jump over to the Catch the Bug Challenge Blog: it's where you can find out all the lastest "dish" on what challenges are happening and what other challenge sites that Bugaboo is sponsoring (more chances to win some free Bugaboo!). One more thing before I wrap this up....be on the lookout for the upcoming Bugaboo Christmas in July Week Long Celebration! This is always a favorite, with lots of FREE images given away for participating in our challenges that week! I'll have more details on that as the date draws nearer.

Also, I am now assisting the DT Coordinator with some of the more routine things at Catch the Bug Blog to fill in some time for our wonderful Ms. Min, who is expecting Baby #1, and is happily preparing for the arrival! I'm helping out with some posting duties, and I'm also helping out by choosing a Bugaboo Stamps Fan of the Month! So......if you're a fan of Bugaboo Stamps (and who isn't, right?!), make sure you're posting your Bugaboo cards on your blog because I'm poking around Blog-land looking for YOU! :)

Happy Crafting!

*Second Post Toady* WHAT is THAT?! lol!

Happy Easter Weekend!

This is my second post today, so if you are looking for my Bugaboo Stamps Bingo post, please scroll down!

I am still dealing with grey skies and rain this morning, so decided to sit down and do some digital "playing around" in my PSE, again.
I'm using the same set of images as I did on my post last night, Stampin' Up Brushstroke Hummingbird, which I have scanned into my computer so I can play digitally with them.

Usually when I make cards I am following a sketch, or challenge guidelines. The cards I have to show you today were made for a different reason, though. You see, my mom and dad are business owners: she owns a landscape company, and he is a licensed builder and does home renovating and deck building, and such. They work together, so in the months with appropriate weather they are outside doing landscapes and hard-scapes, and in the colder months they work indoors. Anyhow, a long time ago (I'm talking a decade ago), I had made up a bunch of cards for my mom to use for thank you notes, or 'whatever'. This was back when I was first starting out with stamping. Well, my mom being my mom, she still has a lot of those cards. Why?? Because they're terrible!! lol! They lack any sense of style! Seriously, it's laughable how bad they are! I know she has them because every couplem onths she will have to send me some money (I do some graphic work for her), and she always puts it in one of those awful cards. It's become sort of a joke between us, a "look how far you've come" in terms of creative growth.
Anyhow, here are some new cards I made her, with a note telling her to throw those 'uglies' away! lol! I know.....you're probably wanting to see that ugly card, aren't you?! Well, it's posted toward the bottom of my post for you.....and don't worry, I'm completely not offended when you laugh at it! lol! ;)

The hummingbird card uses the images the same way I did in yesterdays card. The bumblebee card uses the flowers the same way, but.....obviously, I used the bee instead of the hummingbird, this time. I added the little bee trail, it is not part of the stamp image.
I used my Spellbinders A2 Curved Borders for my main image and the open scallop border. My papers are some very old Sizzix Little Sizzles, Watercolor papers.

I colored all my lines, and I had sized three different digital stamps of the flower vine to create the cluster on my card. I had to rotate the images a bit to fit them into place where I wanted to. If you enlarge the image to look closer, you should be able to see the two different green tones on the stems and leaves.

Okay....so I promised a pic of the 'ugly'......here it is!
Enjoy the giggle! lol! I sure did!
Torn edges, stamped on lilac?? Whaaaaat was I thinking?! Now you all know why I do things digitally and don't stamp or color! lol!
(You'll notice that I've digitally reversed my hummingbird in my new cards. I forgot to mention that above).

Happy Crafting!

Whippin' Up some Spring with a Recipe Challenge at Catch the Bug

It's Saturday, which means a new challenge over at Catch the Bug today!

It's all about the
Recipe
We want to see
4 Layers (at least), Ribbon, and a Flower

My card features an oldie Bugaboo Stamps floral image, Mini Set - Flowers
I used the FB5  image from this set. There are many pretty flowers to choose from in this set, but I was drawn to this one because of the butterfly and ladybug that are included in the image. I already knew that I was going to use the Silhouette cutting file for the bee frame, so I thought the extra little bugs would be a great addition!
To start, I layered some pretty MME dp on black, then added that to my white card base. I had punched my black card stock using a Martha Stewart punch, and added some 1/2" black and white flower ribbon from my stash.
I colored my image in PSE, and took it into my Studio program to do a Print to Cut for my base of the frame. Then I cut the yellow layer of the frame, and then the black. I used Glossy Accents to glue it all together. I added some glossy accents to the ladybug dots, head and the butterfly wings to give them some dimension. I put a few dabs of Stickles Star Dust glue on the floral centers for just a touch of bling. The frame is attached to the card with pop dots.
I typed up my sentiment in PSE, and then took that into my Studio program to do another Print to Cut.  I cut some flowers (sorry, not sure where I found that cut - they've been in my files for a very, very long time!).  I used some pretty pearl brads to attach the flowers to my sentiment. My sentiment is attached to the card with pop dots.

Here's a closer look at the Glossy Accents and Stickles that I used on the main image.

Another (sort-of) New Release at Bugaboo Stamps

It's Tuesday.......time for a Bugaboo Stamps New Release! Jodie had been on a vacation for a while, so we are revisiting an older image today! Consider this a re-release, if you will!
This image is one of the Bee Bear images. This one is called Bee Bear Hive, and can be picked up in the store, along with the other cutie-pie Bee Bears!

I had so much fun coloring up this little guy and bringing him to life! I added a lot of Stickles and glaze to this card: Stickles for the bear wings, the bee trail and flower, and glaze on the honey dipper and bee wings. Here's a closer look at the sentiment so you can see the shine a little better:
