Cuttin' Up With Class Scarecrow Challenge

Today starts a new challenge at the new SVG Challenge Blog, Cuttin' Up with Class! Thanks to all of the participants of last week's challenge, and for leaving some love on the projects that the DT created!  We loved seeing your blogs, and hope that you'll join us again this week! If you entered something into the challenge, please visit the Cuttin' Up with Class Blog on Thursday to see if you're a winner! :0) (Jani will also be contacting the winner by email). In the meantime, though, stop by to pick up this week's FREE SVG OR CHOOSE THE FREE DIGI and enter the current challenge! That's right.....Jani is now offering her files as digi stamps, too! We'd love to see what you come up with! :0)

The Cuttin' Up with Class Blog is designed for crafters that want to participate in regularly scheduled challenges that are geared toward SVG files. New challenges are on Tuesday, each week.  A free SVG cut file is provided for  you to use on a project of your choice.  It can be combined with any other challenge. The SVG cut does not have to be the focal point, as long as it is included on your project. You are free to use it along with other SVG's from individuals or other companies. Visit the Challenge Blog for your FREE SVG! Today's file is a Scarecrow SVG - perfect for the fall season that is upon us in full swing!

Here's my card that I created using this great file:

I used a Center Step Card Base for this, and added some carn stalks that I had cut from Linus' 3D Fall Cards from SVGCuts. I don't have a grass border punch, so I made grass by using my Icicle EK Success border punch for the bottom of the card. each layer is adhered to the previous with pop-dots. My sign is something I printed in PSE, and then just cut a base layer and "post" for by hand. I inked it a little bit with a brown marker.

The Design Team has put together some great eye candy and inspiration for this weeks challenge, so be sure to check out what the talented ladies have drummed up for you! Their blogs are all linked in my side bar for you.
Don't forget to pick up the freebie so you can join in to win additional free SVG's and other goodies! :0)

Thanks so much for stopping by! I do hope you will join us each and every Tuesday for some great fun, fab SVG's and super prizes!

Happy Crafting!

Fall is in the air - Cuttin' Up with Class Challenge #3

Hi, everyone!
It's been a busy past week: surgery for my husband on Friday, so we spent the weekend "quiet", and I have been dealing with fall allergies and icky RA issues this past week. I was happy to finish working on today's Cuttin' Up with Class Challenge! :0)
Today, Jani is giving away some great Fall Leaves SVG cutting files! Please visit the Cuttin' Up with Class Challenge Blog to download the FREEBIE, and don't forget to enter your project using the leaves for a chance to win more FREE SVG's from her! :0)
For this card, I used two of her Oak Leaf files. She also has some Maple Leaf files in the download, too.
This photo shows the card from the front, open and standing. When the card is closed, it measures approximately 5" square.

This card uses svg's called
Fall Step Card
&
3D Flower Collection
These SVG files are no longer available for free.
Please visit my SVG's for Sale Page located at the top of this blog.

My papers are by Imaginesce, from a collection called Apple Cider. The 3D Flower that I used is from my 3D Flowers Collection, which you can find in My Etsy Shop.
The card base is something I created, and is also an available SVG for sale in My Etsy Shop, along with some other great step cards for the season! :0) It includes the cad base, designer paper layers for the side of the steps, the letters and layers, the step "trim", the digi sentiment, sized to fit the card as shown, and it's base layer. The leaves, acorns and flower are not part of the card file on Etsy: the leaves are Jani's (available for a limited time on the Cuttin' Up With Class Challenge Blog), and the acorns are cut from the SCAL basic shapes library.

This photo shows the card "steps" more clearly. There are three layers to the letters: the card base, a layer of red, and the letters.

I did some inking on the edges of my sentiment layer, the leaves, the acorns (which are cut from the SCAL basic shapes library), and the 3D Flower. I also did some embossing, and then inked, the stair "trim". A little bit of bling, in the form of a rhinestone brad, finished off the card for me.

So, that's it from me for today, folks! I'm still beat from my weekend, and trying to catch up on some rest, as I am headed on a road trip this coming weekend - my baby sis is having her first baby, Mikayla Paije, on Thursday! Yippeee.....I will be an auntie! :0) Road trips are always tough for me and my achey bones, but I am really looking forward to this one! :0)

Hope to see you all in the challenge entries! I love to come around and visit your blogs when you link up! Until then, happy crafting! :0)

It's time for some tree-trimming!

Have I ever mentioned that I LOVE shiny things?!! ;)
Well, Christmas is no exception! It's a super-shiny holiday, if you ask me! I love baubles and lights and .........well...ALL things shiny! lol!
I have been putting together a tree-trimming card, and this is what I have come up with (shiny, right?!).
This card uses my Ornaments Step Card SVG file

This is leaning on a stand so I could catch the "shiny" of the baubles!
I used some glitter card stock from a clearance pack of Summer Dream Glitter Mat Stacks (by DCWV) that I found at a JoAnn store for all the bauble cuts. The designer paper for the bg is from Stampin' Up (I can't remember which set, it was tossed loose in my bin).
The tree "ornaments" are some Stickles, Christmas Red and Goldenrod.
Here are a few close ups for you!
The wide bauble is a two-layer file, but I used the circle ciut-out from the round bauble center and turned it into a three-layer element. The tall bauble is a two-layer, and the round is a three-layer file.

The svg file for the text bauble also includes two small ovals to layer on the finials. I chose not to use them on this card, so as not to detract too much from the other hanging baubles. All of the "wires" are drawn on the card with a black gel pen.
I am away this weekend, trekking across the midwest to pick up my son for the holiday week, while the "hubster" looks after the house and dogs. I will answer any emails you send me once I am back, though!

SO....without further ado,

This file is no longer available as a freebie!

Gingerbread Step Card

Yep....that's right.....uhm-hmmmm, baby....it's STILL sweet-tooth mania here! lol!
I have been working on this for a few days, and after my gel pens decided to run out on me this morning, I am sharing it with you, anyhow. I'm sure your embellishes will be better than this (ahem.....especially since I have cookies with no decorations on them in this photo!). I have had several requests via email regarding more step cards, and particularly some that are related to Christmas. Here is the first (I have another in the works, and I promise I won't try to use my dead gel pens! hahaha!).
This free svg file contains the card base, the designer paper sides, gingerbread men, cookie platter (yes, it is the same one as from yesterday. It is sized to fit the card for you), and the label used for text.
If you make one of these, I'd love to see it, so please drop me a link! :)

Bee & Hive Step Card - Free SVG FIle!

I have been working on this one for almost a week now. I've had so many distractions, and every time I cut this, I had an issue to correct (it took me three tries!). But, alas, here it is, and I'm really loving it!
You see, my mom owns a landscape company, and it's called Bumblebee Gardening and Landscaping. She has a bumble bee for her logo, of course! She likes to give her clients thank you gifts and card, so I'm always working on new bee themed cards for her.
Since this one says "Bee Mine", I'll probably hold on to it to give her for Valentine's Day next February. I'll have to make her some others that say "Thank you", instead.
This file contains all of the elements shown, except for the "Bee Mine". For that, I printed it out on white paper, using Blomster font, and then cut around it before adding it to the card.
Bee Hive Step Card

I did not use the "side step layer" part of this file, but by cutting it, you can add some paper to each side of the black "step trim" so that the beehive steps of the base card are a different color than the side areas of the card. :) My bee wings are cut from acetate, and I used Stickles Glitter Glue to adhere them to the card, then outlined each of the three cuts with more Stickles. I also added stickles to the bee body, used a Peachy Keen Face Stamp on him, and used a glitter gel pen for his antennae and dotted bee flight line. The daisies have some fancy fuzzy brad centers and more Stickles. The beehive border is a two-part file: the black bottom and the top. I embossed the top with Cuttlebug Candy Cane Stripes folder and then sponged the edges of it for some depth.

This file includes
Beehive Step Card Base
Bee Body & Wings
Two Daisies
Beehive Border
Side Step Layer
Step Trim

Free Step Card SVG - Coffee

Still working on some Step Cards!
This one I made using some coffee elements. My fan kept knocking it over, which is why you see my beat up phone propping it up in the pics. :)

New Step Card File - Baby

I made this card over the past few days. Lots of tweaking and time have gone into this one! I have the SVG file for sale on my Etsy Shop, Cafexpressions for only $1.50. The file includes all the elements, plus the card base and it cuts like butter! :)
Lots of possibilities with this one! Change up the colors for a boy or girl! Use it for a baby shower or as a birthday card!

Rock N Roll Step Card w/Bugaboo Stamp

Bugaboo Stamps gave away this great digi-stamp of the new Skellikinz rocker a couple weeks ago. With my hubby being such a metal-head, it was perfect for an idea I had for a step card! I put together this file, and after a few test cuts, came up with this cutie.
This is a photo of the steps.

I had several specialty papers in my stash - the glitter paper, and the faux purple crocodile. I used an EK Success Icicles Edger punch to make the bottom border, which I used some pewter mirror specialty paper to make. I also used it for the mat behind the title.
One thing I did different with this card is cut three cards and glued them together to make the card thicker.  I really wanted it to be "beefy"....my husband keeps all the cards I make him (he's a hopeless romantic metal-head....what can I say?! ;) ).
I also changed the step cut-outs to give the card a little more support than the others I had made.
Thanks for looking! Hope you like!
(Sorry - this one is not available as a freebie.)

"Boo" Halloween Step Card - Freebie SVG

I've been working on making some great step cards this week, and today I finished up this one.

BOO Step Card
When the card is closed, it measures 5"x5".
I used a MS drippy edge border punch at the top, a Sizzlit die for the scroll work along the stairs, and SVGCuts.com spider from Hazel's Wicked Witch Crafts SVG Collection. I used a lot of Stickles on this card: Purple, Eucalyptus, Icicle and Xmas Red.
For this card, I wanted the elements that make the stairs to be more decorative than just the card stock, so I am including what I cut to cover the base in the svg.
I used a Peachy Keen stamp for the face on the step ghost, and my digi stamp is from some free clip art I found online.

Pumpkin Step Card and Free SVG

*********AUGUST 22 - CORRECTION TOT EH DOWNLOAD LINK TO INCLUDE THE PUMPKINS ALREADY AS PART OF THE BASE. MY APOLOGIES FOR ANY CONFUSION!
THANKS!***********

So if you read my last post, you know I'm working on some Step Card SVG's to give away. Well......here is the card I made with my Pumpkin Step Card
This photo shows the finished 5x5 front of the card, with it closed.

Pumpkin Step Card

This photo shows the card steps and what it looks like open.
I used my Peachy Keen Stamps for the pumpkin faces, and the SCAL Fall Library of shapes for cutting out the pumpkins on the front. I recently purchased some new EK Success Border punches, and those worked out nice for this, I think.  Some inking of the edges, and title that I cut from my SU punches finished it.

A little something I am working on

Someone on the SVGCuts.com forum had asked about step cards, and if anyone had made some in SCAL. Well......I had no idea what they were, so I poked around online until I found what I thought she may mean. I figured I could do something like it in SCAL, so I worked on it this morning. Here is a very quick "Prototype" of a 4-step card. I used hearts in this one, and am still tweaking the dp paper layer sizes on my SCAL program, to fit a bit better than what you see here. Here is the svg file, though, should you care to play with this, too! :)
As always, my freebie files are for personal use only! If you want to share with others, please link back to this blog post, and give credit whenever possible! Thanks!
Here's the card I made (definitely not to be judged on my coloring today - lol!).
